The experience that goes further: Dr Ionel Julea, founder of Chiromax, co-author of the volume „Anaesthesia in Dentistry"

Substances, techniques for local and general anaesthesia”, coordinated by Dr Adrian-Mihail Nistor and published by Editura Callisto. For the Chiromax team, the publication of this book matters less as a title on a CV and more for the story behind it.
An experience bridging the fields of surgery and dentistry
Chiromax starts in the early 2000s, with the activity of Dr Ionel Julea in oral and maxillofacial surgery and by opening his own dental practice.
In the beginning there was just a consulting room. Then came colleagues from other specialisations, cases that demanded multiple viewpoints and an increasingly clear conclusion: when a patient's situation is complicated, teamwork yields better results than working alone.
Over time, that idea gave rise to Chiromax. But before the clinic, the team and everything that exists today, there were the years spent between the operating theatre and the dental surgery. For Dr Ionel Julea, the connection between a well-administered anaesthetic and the success of a procedure is not a theory learned from books, but something confirmed day after day in the surgery. He himself explains, on the back cover of the volume, how the collaboration on this work began:
„I worked for a long time in a department of oral and maxillofacial surgery and, at the same time, in my own dental practice. In this dual capacity, I have always believed that the success of a potentially painful dental procedure is inextricably linked to the correctness and quality of the administration of local or general anaesthetic. With this in mind, I began working on this book, which I hope will be a publishing success.”
Here lies, in fact, the essence of the story. The book did not stem from a desire to have yet another professional publication, but from the consulting room, from the repeated encounter with the same reality: when undergoing a procedure that can be painful, the way the anaesthetic is administered matters enormously to the patient.
From practice, to the pages of a book
Volume „Anaesthesia in dentistry. Substances, techniques for local and general anaesthesia” gather information on anatomy and neurophysiology, anaesthetic agents, equipment, anaesthetic techniques, potential accidents and complications, as well as the legal aspects of dental practice.
It is a book written for professionals, not for patients, and a distinction is worth making here.
You, as a patient, don't need to know every technique or every substance used. The doctor does. For you, most of this knowledge remains invisible. In medicine, there is a great deal of talk about experience: years of practice, the number of cases handled, specialisations, and further training courses. Dr Ionel Julea’s contribution to this volume can be seen precisely in this light: some of his experience, gained in surgery and dentistry, has moved beyond the consulting room and found its way into a work intended for other doctors. What does this say about Chiromax?
