Fruit and oral hygiene

Fruits and vegetables help to clean teeth and gums because they are hard and fibre-rich foods.

Soft, sticky foods can accumulate in the grooves on the chewing surface and between teeth, leading to the formation of plaque. Consuming foods and drinks that contain sugars or starches feeds the bacteria in plaque, which produce acids. These acids attack the teeth for at least 20 minutes.

Our recommendation is to limit consumption of snacks between meals and sugary drinks, or to choose nourishing foods like cheese, raw vegetables, plain yogurt, or fruit, which aid oral hygiene, to prevent complete enamel deterioration.
