Orthodontics and dento-facial orthopedics are branches of dentistry that deal with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of dento-maxillary anomalies.
\nA correct occlusion (bite) requires a complex biological balance of the stomatognathic system. It includes the dental arches, the jaw bones, the temporo-mandibular joints, the masticatory muscles, the tongue, the salivary glands and the mucosa of the oral cavity. The goal of orthodontic treatment is, among other things, to obtain a functional occlusion. To achieve this goal, the orthodontist must ensure that these components are optimally positioned so that they function properly so that the patient can bite, chew and speak easily, without impediments.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Orthodontic treatment involves the use of brackets and other orthodontic and orthopedic materials and devices that apply properly dosed forces by the orthodontist, in order to achieve a correct alignment of the teeth and a proper position of the jaw bones.
\nThe therapeutic possibilities in the field of orthodontics and dento-facial orthopedics are in a continuous diversification, the orthodontic appliances becoming more and more comfortable and modern. From metal or ceramic brackets, to lingual appliances and to alignment, orthodontic systems have begun to focus more and more on the possibility of obtaining optimal therapeutic results in an adequate period of time, taking into account the aesthetic preferences of patients , but also by the particularities of each case. The type of treatment according to each patient will be recommended by the orthodontist, depending on the individual indications.
\nOrthodontic appliances not only help with dental alignment, but also play an important role in both facial aesthetics and the proper functioning of the stomatognathic system. Properly performed orthodontic treatment helps to improve and maintain dental, gingival and temporo-mandibular joint health.
